Our History – Our Story

At the time of existence Vermont Marble Company employed more than 4,000 men; had offices, quarries, and shops throughout the U.S. and distributed 1 million cubic feet of marble around the globe annually. The Danby quarry is one, if not the only, marble quarry from this historical time period that is still active and growing.

The Vermont Danby Marble® was used in many
buildings and monuments that have come to symbolize American Civilization, such as the Arlington National Amphitheater, the Supreme Court and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

In 1993 RED Graniti and F.lli Mazzucchelli Marmi (both of Carrara Italy) joined forces and opened Vermont Quarries Corp. Through the years the company has operated the famous Danby Marble Quarry in Danby, VT.  The quarry is known not only for its beautiful marble, but for being the largest underground marble quarry and factory.  The Danby Quarry stretches almost 1 1/2 miles into Dorset Mountain.

As of 2025 RED Graniti has obtained full ownership of Vermont Quarries Corp. which continues the tradition of quarrying and producing Vermont Danby Marble.
